Frequently Asked Questions
REGISTRATION?
When registering on-line, you can consider yourself confirmed when you receive an e-mail confirmation. Your seating is reserved, and where you are seated is determined by the date we receive your registration. (The auditorium is a great venue...and every seat in the house is good. We mainly do this to keep groups together, keep lunch and dinner breaks relaxing, and eliminate the rushing in to get seats.)
CHECK-IN?
4pm Wednesday in the Lobby. You will only need one person to check-in for your group. Auditorium and Concessions will open at 6pm Wednesday Night.
Doors Open?
Wednesday Night at 6:00pm
Thursday and Friday Morning 8:30am.
Concessions for sale?
There will be food items for sale when the doors open in the morning and throughout the conference during lunch and dinner breaks. They operate on supply and demand. They will offer whatever we continue to purchase. After operating the conference out of the church and trying to provide food, we are grateful that this service is available.
You will find the stand closed at the end of the evening services.
Free WI-FI
There are tables and chairs in the concession area with FREE WI-FI throughout the conference.
Winage?
Our word for free stuff! This year enter to win an iPod touch for one young person and a Myrtle Beach Getaway for a Pastor, go to the WINAGE page to get details. One entry per person. (No matter how many time you enter, your name will only be put in one time.)
Can I bring food and water? The Auditorium is union run and no outside food or beverages are allowed in the building, including water. The Auditorium staffs a few of their own ushers during our conference. They are very strict and will enforce this policy.
Pastor/Leader Sessions.
The Generation Conference is a two-fold ministry to the youth in the church, as well as their leaders. On both Thursday and Friday mornings of the conference, while the youth are at the Aud, special Pastors/Leaders' sessions will be held at the Radisson Hotel. Coffee is available at 8:45. The first of three speakers will begin at 9am each morning. The sessions end at 12 noon, the same time the Auditorium speaker will finish. There are no afternoon pastor and leader sessions.
Taste of Utica Mingler.
The Taste of Utica is a complimentary social luncheon sponsored by the Generation Conference. The Friday mingler is meant to be a place where two leaders from each church represented at the conference are able to come together meet and network. It is amazing what you can learn and pick-up to take back to your home church. At check-in your church will be given two passes to the luncheon. It will be held immediately following the leaders sessions at the Radisson Hotel on Friday at 12noon. It is called the Taste of Utica, as many of our local favorite foods will be featured around the room.
SUGGESTED HOTELS & GROUP RATES?
Although there are many hotels in the area, we have contacted some of our local hotels. Some have rooms blocked for the conference at a group rate. If the room blocks are full, you may still be able to get rooms in the hotel at their regular rates. Room blocks are released back to the hotels one month prior to the event so don't delay or you may miss out on the reduced rate. There are also many event going on in our area and we expect the Hotels to be pretty booked up on the Friday night. Your group may have to secure a hotel along your travel route home on the last night of the conference. Contact us if you need help finding a hotel for your group: Rhonda@DSLisi.com
AGE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THIS CONFERENCE?
The Conference is recommended for ages 12 and older. We hope that you, the youth leaders and youth pastors will help us by honoring this policy. With this said, we still understand that some youth groups include 11 year olds and some even 10 year olds. Some have asked about registration fees or reduced fees for even younger ages. Again, we would reiterate the above policy and request that you make other arrangements for the younger children. We are unable to provide a reduced fee based on age. There are no extra rooms in the Auditorium to accommodate small children.
DRESS CODE?
Yes. Dress is casual, jeans are fine. We are trying to provide an environment for ministry, we ask that clothing would not be distracting or immodest. Please do not wear shirts that reveal the mid-section, low necklines or tight clothing. In addition, low-rider/hip-hugger pants should be worn only with shirts that are long enough to cover the mid-section and underclothing when arms are raised.
Are there special rates to come for one speaker, or just one day of the conference?
There are no reduced fees, so we would encourage attendees to participate in the entire conference. We realize there are some Christian events that are held for several days in a row that offer the option of choosing times that you would like to take part. The Generation Conference is not that type of event. The Generation Youth Conference differs in that it is a corporate meeting of young people that have come with their local churches for a concentrated time with God. Beginning on the first evening, momentum builds, one speaker adding to another. During these three days, minds and hearts are able to focus, attention not drawn to one specific speaker or another. Coming out to hear one speaker does not contribute to the atmosphere which is part of the Generation Conference.
Can I bring my child or nursing infant to the conference?
While families are important to us, the Generation Conference is an event for junior high, high school, and college age young people, so children and infants, including nursing infants, are not permitted in any of the sessions. Childcare is not available, and there are no separate rooms for parents to stay with their children at this venue.
Is reserved seating available in the Auditorium?
Reserved seating is determined by the registration date. Reserved seating allows the conference to run smoothly and allows groups to sit together without the anxiety of trying to find a large group of seats together
